Someone I know said was the wine really that good or just the company? Maybe we will never know. I’d like to think its a bit of both, a connection to the wine to the place, to the people, or person you are with/at that very moment in time.
The beauty of Cellartracker is that you can pull up all types of reports, from what you scored you wines, then by region or by time, or both. And of course everyone’s favorite pulling up how much you spend on wine, by month, or quarter or yearly, but this post isn’t about that.
So I went through what I tasted up until December 14th [I still dont know if the wines from now on out will be amazing, and maybe Ill do a follow up post if there are] but These are Jan 1st to December 14th.
Now I know some of these people are thinking what! Not your top ten especially the people I drank them with, I mean really some of these can be switched up in there but, my top 10 list I made for a specific reason. Everything worked out in those top ten moments, the Wine, the people, and that Ah Ha! Moment.
2001 Château Rieussec – I have had this wine twice now and both times at the end of the night after DRINKING wine and not spitting, the problem with that is I have never properly sat down and tasted it, I know its good but I really don’t know how good.
1975 Graham Porto Vintage – This wine is so close to being in my top 10, the nose was intoxicating, the friends I shared this with well what can we say about this, and the day. I mean this was just a casual/impromptu Sunday dinner, and of course I had to show everyone up HA but still
1999 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau – Yes Please, Aged so well, and shared among great people.
2006 Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard – Well this wine is AMAZING with Ben’s mom Mac and Cheese, Oregon style. I love it, I want to have cases of this chardonnay in my cellar, dont think thats going to happen for a number of reasons. Mainly because of the price.
2007 Sanford Pinot Noir – A Special Night, this wine shone pretty well I totally digged it
2005 Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara Historic Vineyards Collection Bien Nacido Vineyard – Another Special Night, and Dug this as well, Maybe I remember the day more then the wine? Like the Sanford? We shall never know!
1998 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape – During a Vertical [Link], this one showed the best, amazning!
2008 Scott Paul Cellars Pinot Noir Audrey – My Favourite Pinot Noir from Oregon, on a number of occasions [tho I must say tried the newest 09 and was a little scared think it shall age/calm down nicely]. Oh and my notes on the 07 vintage.
2002 Chateau Musar – What no Brett Attack? this was together and harmonious. Tasty juice.
2007 Andrew Will Champoux Vineyard – What I love about Washington State wine, Big explosive, but with great acid and tannic structure, just beautiful. Yes it is youthful but in its youth it is beautiful, and it should age just as gracefully.
2007 Turley Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard – This wine I remember, the taste, and the story on how I bought it and that counts for something. This was amazing, so elegant yet so powerful, made me a believer.
1998 Domaine Barmes-Buecher Gewurztraminer Steingrubler – Surprising how youthful it tasted in our Alsace/Portugal Night, I thought it was youngest wine and it turned out to be the oldest, and I love when that happens
2009 Château Tour Salvet – A Cheapie Bordeaux from Opimian Wine Club, YES PLEASE! I asked if I could order more cases, but that how it works, it shows how good 2009 is in Bordeaux and how good the little producers are.
N.V. Jose Dhondt Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut – Can put this down every year, I love this producer. Its my House BdB.
2003 Quails’ Gate Estate Winery Old Vines Foch Limited Release – Ok So I actually did find one BC Wine that did make my list, didn’t think there was then saw a picture of this on my phone. So why this one? Well for one I’m not a big fan of Hybrid grapes, and this one surprised me changed how I thought about them. And it was shared with me by a close friend who after opening said their father would of loved this wine and it was their last. So its kinda of special
